A finalist in a public architectural competition, the “La Jonction” nautical base project blends historical continuity with environmental respect. Located at the confluence of city, park, and river, it creates a seamless transition between urban and natural areas. The design preserves existing structures, like the TPG administrative building (Transports Publics Genevois), and limits motorized vehicles, promoting pedestrian and boater access for a more eco-friendly environment. New elements, such as storage boxes, balance public transparency with privacy for club users.
The site is divided into three areas—parking, sports, and rest — guiding users naturally from arrival to water entry. The dynamic central hub connects the river with sports activities, while a separate rest area offers a peaceful view of events. Functional zones include a delivery area, a raised rest zone, and a slalom training area.
The architecture comprises of two units: an unheated space for equipment storage using recycled metal beams, and a heated section in the renovated TPG building with changing rooms, offices, and a gym. Renovations prioritise energy efficiency and reuse of materials, minimising the carbon footprint.
The green roof improves insulation and biodiversity while the project adopts a circular economy approach, enabling future reuse and recycling of materials in line with the clubs adaptive tradition.
