FAUP III - Multifamily Housing in Porto
- Location: Avenida da Boavista, Porto, Portugal
- Year: 2018/2019
- Type: Academic project
- Program: Multifamily Housing Building

This housing project is located in Boavista, an area characterized by its intense circulation and the transition between different architectural expressions. The area is marked by the coexistence of a compact and traditional vernacular architecture from Porto and a more expansive, contemporary architecture. This architectural contrast inspired the creation of a residential complex that dialogues with both styles, reflecting the urban evolution of the region.
Based on this analysis, the gallery was adopted as a key element for accessing the housing blocks. This choice is justified by its ability to articulate the movement between private and public spaces, serving as a fluid transition point between the compactness of the built environment and the openness to the exterior.
Transitions are the key element of this proposal, expressed both in the relationship between architectural compactness and expansion and in the interaction between vernacular and contemporary architecture. In this way, the project establishes a harmonious communication with its surroundings, creating a dialogue that respects the past while projecting the future of architecture in Boavista.
